Not My Baby Anymore

Posted by: Jenna

These are some photos of Greenlee from the past few months.  She will be 21 months on July 5th and I still can't believe that tomorrow she will no longer be my baby anymore.  We decided to go ahead with the induction after weighing the pros and cons, so today was my last day with her that it will ever just be "us two."  It was a bittersweet day.  I took her to Target and Chickfila for lunch.  We read a lot of books and snuggled while she watched a movie.  Josiah fed her dinner when he got home from work and then we dropped her off at my parents house.  I almost cried dropping her off.  It was just really sad-- knowing it was the last time she'd ever be an only child and that it would just be the three of us.  But it is also exciting for her to have a sibling.  I know she will never remember not having her brother around.  I'm sitting here choking back tears as I type wondering how in the world my baby went from:

  This............................................................................to This so quickly!

38 Weeks

At my appointment this week I was 3cm dilated-- still 50% effaced, and baby's head still in the same position.  I think it's so weird how I keep dilating but no progress with effacement.  The same thing happened with Greenlee,  I stayed 60% with her until the morning I was induced.  I've been really crampy all week and even had some major contractions on Tuesday night.  I truly thought it was labor but after 5 hours they went away.  Pretty disappointing.  I am scheduled for an induction on Tuesday, the 19th, but I'm not sure if I will do it or not.  I kept my appointment on Monday to see what my progress is and then I will decide.  But, since it is an elective induction my doctor told me to go ahead and schedule so I can make sure I am on the books.  I also gained a pound last week so I am at 18 total.  EEEKK...I really hope I don't gain any more!  These last few days I am just walking around the neighborhood for exercise-- my gym membership was almost expired so I had it frozen so I will have a few weeks after I have the baby that I can work out before I have to pay to renew.  I feel like walking puts more stress on my body than the elliptical did-- it is definitely not comfortable on the pelvic area!  Anyways, I'll try to post on Monday to update about our decision to induce or wait it out.

37 weeks today with P man...I've gained 17 pounds.  I have to take a minute to toot my own horn because I have worked INCREDIBLY hard the past year to get to this point.  1 year ago I actually weighed more NOT pregnant than I do now at 9 months pregnant.  This pregnancy was a surprise, and I was pretty devastated at first because I had worked so hard to get those last 20 lbs off from my first pregnancy.  My goal was to gain no more than 20 lbs this pregnancy and I have managed to do it!  Lots of ridiculously hard work, sweat, blood, and a few tears, but I did it!  I'm proud of me for making my health a priority and for taking such good care of myself this pregnancy.  GO ME!!!  I'm also thankful for such a supportive husband who shares my same priorities.  He is running a 5K next weekend and I can't wait to cheer him on!

37 weeks with Greenlee...who knows how much I had gained at this point-- probably upwards of 45.  Totally ridiculous!

At my appointment today I was over 2cm dilated, 50% effaced, and the baby was at -1 head station.  She said she might not see me next week but I'm sure they always say that to their hopeful mommas :)  I actually don't mind waiting a little longer :)  I'm feeling pretty darn good this week!

36 week update

Here we are at 36 weeks.  At my appointment I was somewhere between 1 and 2cm and 50% effaced.  Baby's head is low so this is good.  Until next week...

35 Weeks with Greenlee...OH.MY.WORD!

Yesterday marked 35 weeks for this pregnancy.  I seriously thought my doctor would check me and say the baby was about to fall out.  Haha, at least that's how I've been feeling lately-- lots of pelvic pain and pressure, contractions, cramps, etc.  Of course, that was not the case.  Instead, she said "oh you are just half a centimeter-- totally normal for this stage in the game."  I was partly relieved to hear that, but partly disappointed.  Relieved because I'm definitely enjoying the ease of only having one child and just the overall "norm" that we've finally managed to establish.  On the other hand, I was a little disappointed because I am weary of being pregnant!  I definitely can't complain much-- but it's becoming a little more uncomfortable with each passing week.  The biggest thing that bothers me is the recent pregnancy insomnia I have been experiencing.  Knowing the degree of sleep deprivation that I will be experiencing in a few short weeks make me LONG to sleep as much as possible, but sleep seems so elusive lately.  A lot of it is not being able to get into a comfortable position and having to pee so much in the middle of the night!  I'm praying I can get some rest the next few weeks if possible.  In the meantime, I'm savoring these last few weeks as a family of three :)

33 weeks

I had my 33 week appt yesterday.  Everything looks good.  I'm measuring right on track, baby boy weighs between 4.5 and 5 lbs, and I've gained 13 pounds.  I'm getting really tired and low on energy lately, but besides that I feel good :)  I'm thankful for a sweet husband who is more than willing to pick up the extra slack around our home!  He helps cook, clean, and take care of Greenlee when I'm too tired (and even when I'm not), which is becoming a regular occurrence lately.  I'm a blessed mama :) More to come in 2 weeks after my next appt...
