Today is Sunday, December 2, and Cooper is 4 days old. The pictures above are some of my favorites from the past few days.

The nurse who did Cooper's footprints handed this to us with a huge sigh and said "The search for 'Bigfoot' is over guys!"

Such a proud big brother!

Aunt Jenna and Uncle Jake (Em's brother) waiting for Cooper to arrive.

Emily's mother and her Aunt Ginger

Emily's dad and my dad

Aunt Jenna and Grandma Lisa

Cooper Luke was born today at 2:07pm. He weighed 9lbs 13oz and was 21 inches long. He is strong and healthy and we couldn't be any happier to finally welcome him into the world! Thanks for your prayers, love, and support.

Turkey Day!

Our little cookie monster
Tash and me

This is my dad's brother's eldest daughter, Cyndi, with her husband Eric and son, Carson. Cyndi's second son is due in April, 2008.

These are my cousins Justin and Tasha (with baby Carson). They are Cyndi's younger brother and sister.

Another brother/ sister picture.

James with cousin Carson. James was happily eating his cookies when I put Carson up there next to him, and Carson decided he was going to steal one for himself. As you can see, James wasn't too thrilled at the idea. But it made for an adorable picture!

Emily and James (and Cooper in the belly!)

There are only four girls on my dad's side of the family. Here are three of us: Ashley, Jenna, and Tasha

Ashley and I with the boys: Austin and Brett, who are my dad's sister's sons. Ashley is my dad's other sister's daughter. Aunt Margie and Adam (Ashley's brother) couldn't make it because they live in Orlando.

Me and my baby cousin, Carson Stary

All the Shields side cousins: Tasha, Austin, Brett, Justin, Ashley, Jenna, Brandon, James, Cyndi, and Carson.

My cousin Ashley and I with Carson

This year we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house in Louisville with all of my dad's side of the family. They all live in Cinncinnati and Northern Kentucky, with the exception of Aunt Margie, who lives in Orlando. Dad is the oldest of four siblings. He has a brother and two sisters. It goes: Dad, Jerry, Margie, and then Barb. We were sad Margie and her son Adam couldn't make it, but very thankful that the rest of the family made the trip down here to spend the day with us! We had so much food, it was crazy. Everyone brought a dish. I contributed in the dessert department with a Chocolate Chunk Pumpkin Bundt Cake and Pumpkin Swirl Cheese cake bars. I forgot to take pictures of all the beautiful desserts, but I managed to take some of the family, which is all that matters! Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Good Friends...Great Family

Another dear friend, Darla, with James during our visit to Orlando. James really loved Darla!

Me, Brandon, and Emily at a wedding this summer. Em was just a few months pregnant with Cooper here.

Me and my sweet nephew, James. He LOVES playing with the wind chimes on our back porch.

Julie and I again. I just adore this girl...and don't know what I'm going to do with myself when she moves to Wentzville, MO in December. But, I am so proud of her and her husband for following the Call God has put on their lives.

Two dear friends of mine- Julie Shirley and Marci Parrott. I went to elementary, middle, and high school with Julie and I've known Marci since 7th grade. This picture was taken at our 5 year high school reunion a few months ago.

A good friend of mine, Mary Margaret Collingsworth. I was recently took a trip to Dallas and stayed at her house...this is our typical goofy behavior.

Me and my brother. September 2007.

Cousins on my dad's side. Ashley, Cyndi and her little boy, Carson. Cyndi is now pregnant with another little boy, Beckham, due in just a few months!

Baby James

On May 3, 2006, James Brandon Shields Jr. came into the world and made it a better place for sure. James is such a blessing to all of us: his mommy and daddy, Grandma Lisa and Grandpa Jim, Aunt Jenna, Uncle Jacob, Uncle Nathan and Aunt Holly, Grandpa Rick and Grandma Karen, and all of our extended family. He is one special little boy who brings an immense amount of joy to all of our lives. Now James is 18 months old and has a new baby brother on the way! I thought it would be neat to post some newborn pictures of James so we could compare them to the ones I post of Cooper.

Emily's Shower

Posted by: Jenna

Ok, Emily would probably kill me if she knew I posted a prego picture (espcially a 9 monther) of her so let's keep this quiet. I don't understand her fear of the camera during the past two times she has been pregnant, because I think she is absolutely beautiful! Nevertheless, Emily's one general rule during pregnancy is "No Cameras Please!!! I don't need pictures, the image of me pregnant is already seared into my mind forever!!" Anyways, tonight we had a little shower for my sister-in-law at Camille's Cafe, her favorite place. All her girlfriends were there along with mom, Karen, me, and Holly. As you can see from the picture, Em got lots of goodies to help welcome little Cooper. Lots of monogrammed burp clothes, pacifiers, and bibs...monogramming items is a big thing with the young moms here in Louisville. She also got some things to decorate Cooper's nursury. James is still in a crib so the boys can't share rooms yet. Overall we had a great time chitchatting and catching up. We had three pregnant women there (one who is due 2 days after Em and who's going to be at the same hospital!), and two other women who brought their infants with them...so it was crazy, but so much fun. Thanks Kristen and April for making this night special for Emily!

Halloween With James

Aunt Jenna with her favorite little elephant!
Cousin Lincoln was a skunk

This year James was an elephant

I love spending Halloween with my brother's wife's extended family. Every year Emily's Aunt Ginger has a big festival at her house where you'll find the biggest pot of chili you've ever seen. We also grill hotdogs, roast marshmellows and have all kinds of treats and candy for the kids.
