Continuation on feminism...
PostedAccording to my professor, if you are a woman, you can thank a feminist for the following liberties:
*the right to vote
*the right to access contraceptives
*the right to work outside the home
*the right to receive equal pay for equal work
*the right to refuse sex, even with your husband
*the right to receive a higher education
*the right to have access to a safe, legal abortion
*the right to be able to participate in sports
*the right to hold a political office
*the right to choose any career of interest
*the right to be free from sexual harassment in the workplace
*the right to enter into legal and financial transactions
*the right to study women's lives and experiences
Although the feminist movement has provided some great opportunities for women in modern society, it has also done some major damage to society's view on traditional gender roles. As a result, families and homes all over America are in a state of serious crisis. Husbands are being plowed over by their manipulative, domineering wives. Children are wondering why they have two mommies and where their daddy is. Little boys are being encouraged by society to explore their "feminine side." These are just a few examples of how the feminist movement has directly effected the institutions of marriage and family. Obviously, there are a lot of ideas encapsulated by feminism that are in direct conflict with the Biblical view of marriage, family, and gender roles. As Christians, I believe we should actively refute the negative characteristics of the feminist movement in order to preserve the sacred institutions of marriage and family.
