Yeah, We're Dorky Like That...

Last weekend Josiah and I went to the annual Gaslight Festival.  We bought these adorable little bracelets from this handmade leather goods booth.  Mine has hearts on the sides and Josiah's has little cacti on each side.  The middle part has our family monogram engraved on them.  We know, it's a little dorky-- but at least we didn't put "BFFL" on them...haha.

Huber's Orchard & Winery Day Trip

After a long and stressful week of child rearing, Josiah and I were ready for some "us" time.  Thankfully, he did not have to work at CPK this weekend so we took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and woke up early to check out the annual Highview Arts & Crafts Fair.  We found this really neat little booth owned by a man who does handmade wooden crafts.  We were so thrilled to find a hand made peppermill (we've been looking for one for a while now) for a great price so we bought it and then headed off to Huber's Orchard & Winery in Starlight, IN.  It's a tradition for my family to go every year around October to pick pumpkins, but I had never been any other time of the year.  Luckily, we came just in time to pick some really yummy fruit.  We picked apples, raspberries, blackberries, and grapes straight from the vine!  We also did a homemade wine tasting that was out of the world!  The homemade wines were delicious-- better than many we've ever tasted.  After picking our fruit and tasting our wine, we finished off the day with some homemade pumpkin ice cream that was basically a piece of heaven on earth.  Josiah and I thought it tasted just like pumpkin pie-- YUMMY!  Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy from our lazy day on the farm :)

Behind the Times

Ok, so I'll admit, ever since the wedding I haven't been posting regularly-- I'm deeply sorry for slacking! Ever since school started in August we have been extremely busy, so any spare time we have is spent together (of course!).

Here is what's been going on in the Hellekson family:

1. School started on August 24th. Jenna is taking 15 hours of coursework, interning 16 hours per week at Floyd Memorial Hospital as a medical social worker, and working part-time as a nanny. Josiah is taking 6 hours of Finance courses at UofL, along with juggling his 50+ hour work weeks at Humana and CPK.

2. As you saw in our previous post, Josiah turned 26 on August 26th!

3. For Labor Day weekend, Josiah's parents and Granny came in town...along with 3 sets of couple friends from various parts of the country for our wedding reception. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures to post, but we had a photographer take professional shots that night so those will be available in a few weeks. The reception was a lot of fun-- it was great to catch up with old friends! My favorite part of the night was the sushi and the cake-- it was phenomenal! Afterwards, we had all the couples over to our apartment-- it was so refreshing to hang out with couples our age who were in our lifestage.

5. Our professional wedding pictures from Mackinac Island are finally finished! There are over 800 photos so we will be spending quite a bit of time sorting through them and picking out our favorites. Luckily we get them all on a DVD in a month or so:)

6. This past week has been INSANE. Josiah and I are house-sitting/nannying for the family I work for while the parents are in Arizona. They have 5 dogs, a cat, and two kids so it has been a bit chaotic as you can probably imagine! We are looking forward to getting back to normal in our quiet little apartment tomorrow night :) Plus, I have a MOUND of laundry to tackle!!

We will try to post some recent pictures soon, but for now I just wanted to update everyone on what has been going on with us. Our next big adventure is to North Dakota the second weekend of October......
