Orlando Bridal Shower

Posted by: Jenna

We had such a great time today at the shower hosted by Vicki Wilson and her daughter, Jennifer.  Vicki and her husband are good friends of my parents', and Jenn and I have been friends since high school.  We had a lovely group of ladies including:  Darla Catoe, Donna Pounds, Connie Price, Lisa Kennedy & her daughter Ashton, Jessica, Fay Feather, Vicki's cousin Kathy and Kathy Drake.  The menu was homemade from scratch by Vicki's cousin, Mrs. Kathy, and it was delicious!  Heath and Key Lime fruit dip, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, mini Quiche pies, hot chicken salad, and of course sweet tea!  The cake was made by my friend Miggie's aunt, who is a professional cake baker!  It had strawberry filling and was OUT OF THIS WORLD!  Some of the sweet gifts I (and Josiah) received included our pottery barn plates, a ruffled apron from Anthropolgie, an asparagus platter, tea pitcher, monogrammed throw, monogrammed hand towels, a salad spinner, and much more!  My mom got me so many monogrammed things (note cards, note paper, luggage tags, etc)-- which I just LOVE!  Overall, it was such an amazing day with awesome fellowship.  Thank you again Wilson family for making this day so special...we love you so much!

26 DAYS TO GO!!!!!

Well, it's officially our wedding month and we are BEYOND excited!  Right now, I (Jenna) am in Orlando, Florida for my first of two bridal showers.  It is Sunday after church at our good friend Vicki's house...so I will definitely post pictures of all the fun soon!  I return to Louisville on Wednesday and then have 2 1/2 weeks left of school and work until the wedding week!

On Thursday, we completed our marriage license and sent it up to Michigan to get processed.  It will be ready for us to pick up on the 30th.  It was such a surreal thing getting the papers notarized...we looked at each other and just smiled and said, "WOW!"

When I return from Orlando this Wednesday we will have our last night of premarital counseling with the Moore's.  We have learned so much from them and it has deepened our relationship for sure.  The book we went through was challenging, but in such a good way.  It has stretched us to think and talk about things that we may have overlooked otherwise.

I pick up my wedding dress on July 11th and Josiah's suit will be finished on July 14th.  I still want to get some pretty clips for my hair, but that's pretty much all I have left to shop for.  I've done a little honeymoon-attire-shopping while I've been in Florida, but not too much.  Hopefully I'll get to hit up the other outlet malls before I go back home to Louisville.

Well, I think that's it for now!  Wedding shower pictures to come!!

Taking random pictures of our feet
Waiting for the play to start...you can see the stage in the background...pretty neat
In the car on the way downtown...
Last night Josiah and I went to Central Park in Old Louisville to watch a free performance of Macbeth.  It was a little confusing because I hadn't read the play since high school, but my mom was there to translate for us.  The best part was just getting to spend some time with my guy and the atmosphere was really cool.  We are thinking about checking out Romeo & Juliet in July...

Nothing Too Exciting Lately...

Posted by: Jenna

I haven't blogged in a while because nothing too exciting has been going on with us lately.  But, I'll try to give you an update on the everyday mundane.

1.  We have our entire apartment furnished now...one thing we do still need is a bookshelf, but that's not a top priority or anything.  I have my eye on one from West Elm, but I'm waiting for a sale :)

2.  I finally got all my wedding jewelry.  My necklace came in from Bloomingdales last week and it is gorgeous!  Now, I'm just looking for some decorative hair accessories.

3.  My new job is going great.  It's been such a financial blessing for us, as we have been able to save a good amount of money through my income.  Plus, it's been awesome not having to work at CPK.  Unfortunately, I can't say the same for my poor man-- who basically lives at that place!  But, it has definitely brought some extra cash in for us as well.

4.  We are halfway through pre-marital counseling and it's going great.  Three more sessions before the wedding...

5.  I am done with the worst part of summer school on July 1st!  Then only 3 weeks left of my other class, which has been super easy (just lots of busy work).

6.  Shower invitations have been sent...wedding invitations will be going out next week.

7.  We still need to go shopping for honeymoon clothes...pretty sure we are going to head to the outlets in Nashville next weekend so that should be lots of fun!

8.  I think that's it for now...pray for Josiah-- he is working on a new project at Humana and it's a REALLY big deal.  Just pray that the Lord would open his mind to learning all the new things he must learn to do his job to the best of his ability.

I'll try to post more pictures soon!

Lilly's Wedding Attire???

Posted by: Jenna

Ok girls...I need your opinion.  I'm looking for a madras-style (patchwork) sun dress for Lilly so she can match the boys at the wedding (because it's all about the fashion, right?!).  I've done so many google searches, and honestly, I haven't been able to come up with much.  Most of the cuter/stylish baby girl's clothing starts at 6-9 months (she will need 0-3 mos) ...but, I did find this at Janie & Jack...so let me know what you think or if any of you ladies come up with anything else that maybe I missed!

The Lovely Little Lilly

Lilly Claire Shields made her debut into the world this morning at 8:50am-- weighing in at a healthy 9 pounds and 9 ounces.  She's also a tall little gal: 21.5 inches long!  This is my brother and his wife's third child and first girl...we are all thrilled at her arrival and can't wait to watch her grow into a beautiful young lady.

We adore our new niece!
Love,
Aunt Jenna and (soon-to-be) Uncle Josiah
