Happy 4th of July!

Greenlee and Lilly
Greenlee with her cousin Lilly Claire, who is 2 years old

Today is Greenlee's 9 month birthday. She weighs 21 lbs and is 30 inches tall. According to the doctor, she is off the charts for weight, height, and head circumference. Here are some of the things she has been up to this month:

-- pulling up on things (but she still has no idea she can pull up on her crib rails-- thank you Lord!)
-- taking steps when we hold her hands.
-- still doing the half crawl/drag thing after a whole month of being on the move. Since she gets around anywhere she wants to go with her drag/crawl we don't think she'll ever do the normal coordinated crawl. I think she will go straight to walking.
-- She loves to do planks and headstands all day long
-- Today she drank out of a straw for the first time.
-- signs "more" and "water"...we are working on "all done", "mama", and "dada"
-- eating finger foods...she is getting really good at feeding herself puffs, cheerios, etc.
-- after a week of vacation she reverted back to 3 naps per day...so we are still working on getting her back to her old nap routine
-- getting better at not waking up at night (we started letting her cry herself back to sleep when she wakes up at night and it has helped tremendously)
-- she can put her paci back in her mouth...YAY! this was huge for us. now we know we don't need to run upstairs in the middle of the night or during a nap to put her paci back in when she loses it. as long as she can find it she can get it in. i've waited for this day for a VERY long time!
-- talking up a storm and socializing. she babbles constantly and makes verbal expressions with just about everything she does throughout the day. she also LOVES other kids. she is so aware of other babies and children and wants to be right up in their space touching them and talking to them.
-- size 3 diapers, size 12-18 month clothes, size 3-4 shoe

Happy Father's Day!

Just in time for Father's Day, Greenlee said her very first word-- "Da Da." Hope all the dads out there had a very special day :)

8 Months- UPDATED :)

Trying to pull up on things

hanging out with Daddy :)
this was a few weeks ago at the beginning stages of learning to crawl

Greenlee had her 8 month birthday yesterday! She is 21lbs and 29inches long! She is just starting to crawl and we can tell she really loves being on the move! She is sleeping better during the day-- maybe because she is so much more active and staying awake so long now! She still doesn't have any teeth but lately she is showing some possible teething symptoms so we shall see. Next week we are going to North Dakota to visit Josiah's family so this will be her first big trip since Christmas. We pray she does well and adjusts to the changes. See you next month!

Here are some random 7 month snapshots:

Little cutie in her cloth diaper :) Love it!

Yes, she is watching TV with no pants on-- she had some bad diaper rash that I was trying to air out!
She'll kill me some day for putting this on the internet.

7 Months :)

These photos are actually from Greenlee's 6 month photo shoot but she hasn't changed much in appearance in the past few weeks so I think it's safe to post them under the 7 month update. We weighed her yesterday and she is 19lbs 5oz! We will see how tall she is on Monday. I really thought she would have slowed down a little by now but she is still growing very quickly. She is in 9-12mo clothes, wears a size 2/3 shoe, and is in size 3 diapers. She has finally mastered rolling from back to tummy and tummy to back. She sits by herself for a few minutes but then usually falls over unless someone is supporting her. She is spinning in circles when she is on her tummy and she really wants to crawl but she's not quite there yet. We've started giving her yogurt, bread, and puffs and she really likes them. She doesn't have any teeth so we have to make sure whatever tables foods she gets are dissolvable or "gumable."

Currently she takes 3 naps per day. They range anywhere from 20min to 1.5hr in length. She recently started staying awake 2.5-3hrs at a time. Literally it happened in a week's time. One week she could only stay awake 2 hrs at a time, then the next week she was all the sudden staying awake 3 hours! We have tried for 7 months to "make" her into a good sleeper, but we have found that it is pointless-- she just doesn't require a lot of sleep. I have tried every Babywise trick in the book but it doesn't work for Greenlee. She will wake up after 20min of sleep and be as happy as a lark. I can leave her in her crib for 2 hours and she won't go back to sleep. So, I've pretty much stopped trying to force something that isn't going to happen. We figure her thyroid condition has a lot to do with it. The medication affects eating and sleeping patterns. Honestly, as long as she is happy when she wakes up it isn't a big deal. She is one of those babies that rarely ever cries. Some days she will only nap an hour total and she is still SO happy. It's crazy! At night she sleeps pretty well but I'd say she still only gets about 10 or 11 hours total. Many times we will hear her in the monitor at 3 or 4am talking to herself for up to an hour. Sometimes if we put her to bed earlier, she will sleep longer/later. If we put her to bed later, she wakes up earlier. It's very strange!

Cloth diapering is still going strong. We use disposables at night and on the go, but overall i just love using the cloth. They are so cute and it's nice never running out of diapers. Even Josiah loves using them. The only downside for me is that they don't fit very well under clothes. Her bum looks huge when she has them on under her clothes. For summer it won't really matter because she will wear a lot of dresses and shorts. But for bulkier winter clothing it can be an issue. Overall, we like the cloth and will probably use them on our next child as well.

I'm sorry I've failed to post pictures of our new home. I can't find our camera cord to upload pictures, but as soon as I find it I will post some pics. We love our new house! We have so much space and will have even more once we finish the basement. It is such a blessing!

6 Month Stats

On Tuesday Greenlee had her 6 mo checkup. She weighs 18.3lbs and is 27 1/2 inches long. That means she gained a pound since last month and grew almost 2 inches! I think that's the most she has grown in length in such a short amount of time since she was born. She is in the 95th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference. The doctor said she is perfectly proportionate so not to worry about her being on the bigger side because she is just big all around...ha! Maybe she will be a volleyball player??

Greenlee's latest thing is rolling ALL the time. She loves to roll over, but always gets stuck on her belly-- she hasn't quite figured out how to get back over onto her back just yet. But, I'm sure she will figure it out pretty quickly. For a few nights in a row she would wake up at all hours of the night trying to practice rolling over and getting stuck. She would cry when she got stuck so we would be up multiple times rolling her back over. The doctor told me to stop intervening and just let her fall back to sleep on her tummy so I am trying to take that advice!

She is nowhere near crawling and doesn't have much arm strength yet, so we are still enjoying her being pretty stationary. Once she is on the move we know it will be a completely different ballgame.

In other news, I started a new job yesterday. It is 4 nights per week, so Josiah is doing the evening routine with Greenlee the majority of the time now. We are hoping it works out for a while to allow us to save money to do improvements on our house, then I will probably find a job in my field and we will most likely do daycare or a babysitter for Greenlee. We won't be having anymore children for a while (Lord willing), so I would like to work as much as possible now, and then stay home indefinitely once we have more children-- WAAAAY down the road. HA!

Oh yeah, I just realized I forgot to mention that we bought our first home! I will have to post pictures soon.
