Good Friends...Great Family

Posted by: Jenna

Another dear friend, Darla, with James during our visit to Orlando. James really loved Darla!

Me, Brandon, and Emily at a wedding this summer. Em was just a few months pregnant with Cooper here.

Me and my sweet nephew, James. He LOVES playing with the wind chimes on our back porch.

Julie and I again. I just adore this girl...and don't know what I'm going to do with myself when she moves to Wentzville, MO in December. But, I am so proud of her and her husband for following the Call God has put on their lives.

Two dear friends of mine- Julie Shirley and Marci Parrott. I went to elementary, middle, and high school with Julie and I've known Marci since 7th grade. This picture was taken at our 5 year high school reunion a few months ago.

A good friend of mine, Mary Margaret Collingsworth. I was recently took a trip to Dallas and stayed at her house...this is our typical goofy behavior.

Me and my brother. September 2007.

Cousins on my dad's side. Ashley, Cyndi and her little boy, Carson. Cyndi is now pregnant with another little boy, Beckham, due in just a few months!

Baby James

On May 3, 2006, James Brandon Shields Jr. came into the world and made it a better place for sure. James is such a blessing to all of us: his mommy and daddy, Grandma Lisa and Grandpa Jim, Aunt Jenna, Uncle Jacob, Uncle Nathan and Aunt Holly, Grandpa Rick and Grandma Karen, and all of our extended family. He is one special little boy who brings an immense amount of joy to all of our lives. Now James is 18 months old and has a new baby brother on the way! I thought it would be neat to post some newborn pictures of James so we could compare them to the ones I post of Cooper.

Emily's Shower

Posted by: Jenna

Ok, Emily would probably kill me if she knew I posted a prego picture (espcially a 9 monther) of her so let's keep this quiet. I don't understand her fear of the camera during the past two times she has been pregnant, because I think she is absolutely beautiful! Nevertheless, Emily's one general rule during pregnancy is "No Cameras Please!!! I don't need pictures, the image of me pregnant is already seared into my mind forever!!" Anyways, tonight we had a little shower for my sister-in-law at Camille's Cafe, her favorite place. All her girlfriends were there along with mom, Karen, me, and Holly. As you can see from the picture, Em got lots of goodies to help welcome little Cooper. Lots of monogrammed burp clothes, pacifiers, and bibs...monogramming items is a big thing with the young moms here in Louisville. She also got some things to decorate Cooper's nursury. James is still in a crib so the boys can't share rooms yet. Overall we had a great time chitchatting and catching up. We had three pregnant women there (one who is due 2 days after Em and who's going to be at the same hospital!), and two other women who brought their infants with them...so it was crazy, but so much fun. Thanks Kristen and April for making this night special for Emily!

Extreme Home Makeover Comes to Louisville!

We Louisvillians were ecstatic when we got wind that the crew from Extreme Home Makeover was going to be in town this week. Thousands of locals have come to watch and encourage the crew as they work on this project 24 hours a day! On Wednesday, they are going to "Move that bus!!" and do the big reveal for the Hughes Family. The episode is scheduled to air in spring 2008...

Halloween With James

Aunt Jenna with her favorite little elephant!
Cousin Lincoln was a skunk

This year James was an elephant

I love spending Halloween with my brother's wife's extended family. Every year Emily's Aunt Ginger has a big festival at her house where you'll find the biggest pot of chili you've ever seen. We also grill hotdogs, roast marshmellows and have all kinds of treats and candy for the kids.

Autumn in Kentucky

Posted by: Jenna

Autumn is without a doubt my favorite season, one I often missed when I lived in Orlando. It's an especially beautiful time in Kentucky. The leaves change every color from brown and orange to yellow and red. The weather is crisp and breezy, without a cloud in the sky. These are some photos I took while in Prospect, KY recently.

Falling Behind...

I know I've been doing a terrible job of updating this thing. I went back and deleted a lot of the previous posts but never replaced them with new ones! I apologize, and will do my best to do better! Nothing significant is really happening in my life right now, so I feel there isn't much of a need to post. But, as soon as there is, I shall post!

For now, I'm patiently awaiting the birth of the newest Shields' member...Cooper Luke. He is due November 28th via C-section at 1pm. Stay tuned for updates and pictures!
